Ok, I just finished another release candidate, this one is called RC4. Some of you may notice that RC3 never made it public, but I had made so many changes since I made that one that I really couldn't call it RC3 any more. New features include: Friends functionality is optional now, a basic report generator in the backend and also a new item in the fix category, where it will make sure that you have all menus in the backend that you are supposed to have. If you don't have a submenu called "Fixes" under EnduranceLog in the backend then you can go to 'index2.php?option=com_endurancelog&act=fix' once you are logged in (and have updated your files obviously) and you should be able to fix that. There aren't that many bugfixes, but some are significant, namely that the Itemid didn't always follow the links displayed in the component. This made all sorts of strange behaviour go away since newer joomla distros rely much more on correct itemids than before. To accompany this fix I also updated the menu module to actually display the correct itemid as it is now used. I also fixed a bug with jpgraph complaining about missing files. So that should not be a problem any more. Several more bugfixes were made, most of them minor. |

So I noticed that over on joomla extensions that I've only got three votes. It looks like one needs somewhere between 5 and 10 votes for the votes to start kick in. So I'm pleading to everyone that stops by here to vote. I don't care if you hate the component or love it to death, I just want enough to get something going over there. And of course if you are feeling frisky then you can add your very own review as well. The two that are there are kinda oneliners so if you have anything to say, let'er rip.... here's a link over to joomla extensions: http://extensions.joomla.org/component/option,com_mtree/task,viewlink/link_id,638/Itemid,35/ |

So I just put a very simple update version out. This will update your 0.3 component to the 0.4rc2 vesion. You simply replace all your files in the admin as well as the frontend component directory and add two more tables with the provided sql. Don't forget to replace the #_ in the sql with the table prefix (either mos or jos). And also you need to re-save your config in the backend, especially if you want the component to be public. If you have made any changes to the .css files then obviously you don't want to overwrite those. |

So... some of you may have noticed that we are now running joomla 1.0.12 rather than the very old mambo 4.5.0 or so that this site was on before. I had just uploaded a new version of the EnduranceLog to the site when I realized that it wouldn't work with mambo anymore. So 5 hours and one very tired me later (its now 5 a.m. my time) we are up and running again. At least enough so that I can get some sleep. So if you notice something not working correctly on this site it is probably because it doesn't and I need to fix it. So let me know.... ok? Oh... and there is a rc2 in the download section, with the added graphing features that can be seen on this site.... |

So you want to know what is new in 0.4? Then read on... First, there is now the option to set the component to private. That means that only logged in users can see it. Previously you could set all links to the component as for registered users only but if you knew the URL you could still gain access to it. Now you can make sure that will not happen. T here is also the "Coach" feature. This is only the beginning of this feature and simply allows users to add coaches in their preferences. The people defined as coaches (done in the backend) can then view their trainees logs just as friends. That's about all they can do right now. |
